The School of Patmos, or the Patmian School is built near the Cave of the Apocalypse. Metropolitan bishop Grigorios first envisioned the founding of this school, but it was not until Makarios Kalogeras returned to Patmos did the school become tangible. The Patmian School has become a cradle for the unredeemed Greeks during the Greek War for Independence in 1821. The Patmian School has given birth to many prominent professors and students who stood out in Modern Greek history, one of which is Emmanuel Xanthos. Financial assistance from the school was aplenty. Wealthy Greeks with the likes of Manolakis Castorianos gave their generous funding, which helped construct one of its new buildings in 1947. Overall, Patmos Islands shines in grandeur because of the monastery, the cave, and the Patmian School.
