| Patmos,
like any other Christian community, holds various feasts
and holidays. Below is a list of notable feasts of both
the whole Island, and per village.
Hora
"Feast of Agios Christodoulos" – this takes place during the 15th of March, and is only a church ceremony.
"Feast of Agios Ioannis Theologos" – held every 8th of May. This is only a church ceremony, and the village of Hora also observes this as a feast day.
"Feast of Panagia Eleimonitra" – a feast held during the 15th of August. This feast is observed particularly in Hora
Kambos
"Feast of Agioi Pandes" – this feast is held 8 weeks after Easter, at the monastery of Apolou. During this feast, families arrive early morning on their boats, with food in hand, for the celebration after the church ceremony.
"Feast of the Saviour" – this feast is held during the 6th of August.
"Feast of the Virgin Mary" – this feast is held during the 15th of August
Grikos
"Feast of Holy Cross" – this feast takes place during the 13th of September. The feast is held at a place called Diakofti, on the eve of the celebration of the Cross. As the ceremony ends, a feast starts which includes local musical instrument players and the giving of free drinks.
