One can not simply go into the Island of Patmos without sinking his or her teeth into one of its proud delicacies.
Patmos dishes include the famous and traditional cheese pie. Patmians also have this traditional cake called “Pouggi”, which is sugar coated, and is either fried or baked.
For meals, Patmian cooking ranges from meat, poultry and seafood. Be sure to ask for these scrumptious meals in Patmian restaurants. Famous meals include rooster/chicken cooked with wine, goat meat called Kapama, topped with fresh tomato sauce, stuffed vine leaved, and steamed lobster.
Patmos Island, a small but remarkably rich island lying in the tranquil sea of the Aegean, is home to both religious and historical treasures. With its ancient and medieval architecture and Orthodox Christian practices, it seems to have kept true to its legend that it is a land below the seas – preserved, untouched, its growth uninterrupted.
